For the inquisitive mind, here is a little historical background of myself: I grew up wandering the forests around Thunder Bay and canoeing Lake Superior. I explored and tented the shorelines of lakes, rivers and streams there helping me build a vast understanding of nature.

As a young artist, I studied art at the University of Guelph taking many art history courses becoming very comfortable with the likes of the Dutch and German masters, American painters, and schools of thought coming out of Paris during the turn of the century. The Impressionists and Expressionists never ceased to amaze me and studying their works only aided to fortify my understanding of how and what to paint!

I continued on to Teacher’s College and enjoyed an extensive career in teaching in secondary schools and at the University of Waterloo as an occasional instructor in watercolour. I managed this career while painting in my home studio every night for over 30 years.

My subject matter varies from landscapes and seascapes in the Maritime provinces, the Elora Gorge and surrounding area and stills of collected antiques. Being a big fan of our country, I truly enjoy painting Canada and Canadian content. When I travel, I seldom find inspiration elsewhere, its just not who I am.
