I have a long-held passion for creating with wood. I especially love the beauty of the natural grain inherent in many of our native woods. Initially, I made tables, cabinets and cutting boards. However, in recent years, I have mainly focused on carving wooden bowls and spoons. Most of the bowls I create are carved from burls. I try to find burls with irregular and interesting shapes. Because I don’t use a lathe, I am able to follow the natural shape of the burl. As a result, every bowl is unique. The grain patterns found in burls are unpredictable and often beautiful, and I enjoy unlocking the natural beauty that nature has provided.
