Heather Wood
Much of Heather’s work revolves around the image of the tree. Through various techniques involving glass she explores trees as cultural symbols which have acquired a variety of meaning over many centuries and in many places across the globe. Representing the environment both literally and metaphorically, Heather’s work interprets trees as archetypes for life and creation – heaven and earth. The image of the tree also serves to explore the connection between our spiritual and physical worlds. The symmetries that the tree symbolizes therefore provides many avenues of expression and, as such, the image of the tree surfaces repeatedly in Heather’s work.
